THE LONG STORY
ˈbivo͞oˌak
noun. a temporary camp without tents or cover, used especially by soldiers or mountaineers
Inspired by the minimalist explorer, Bivouac Ciderworks was designed to reflect adventure, nostalgia, and warmth - a cozy gathering place for sharing stories over hard cider.
The space incorporates elements of the outdoors, such as brass and wood light fixtures that double as plant shelves, with maturing greenery creating a dappled light effect. Repurposed popcorn machine tubes mimic camping lanterns, while waterjet steel constellations and recessed ceiling lights evoke a starry night.
A knotted rope installation spans the space, tying into cider names, while a 10-person swing sits before a steel mountainscape. Brass topographic inlays on a white concrete bar add a campfire glow, and a pivot widow connects the indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly. Subtle nods to campfires appear throughout the shelving, table legs, and wood patterns, creating a cohesive and inviting environment.
